Soar Mill Cove Hotel is situated in the South Hams area of South Devon.  It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with glorious beaches and coast and plenty of unspoilt countryside.

Nearby are the harbour towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe.  Salcombe, the nearest town to Soar Mill Cove, is a popular resort for fishing, shopping, some great places to eat out as well as the lovely beaches.

Dartmouth, founded by the Normans, has long been used for trading, mainly due to it being a deepwater port.  Now it is a popular sailing resort, as well as having a small fishing fleet.

Totnes is located further upstream on the River Dart, on the West bank.  Historically Totnes was an inland port that exported cloth around the world.  Some architecture from its heyday remains and there is still a small working port down on the river.
